Kingsmill Resort is a four season, AAA Diamond hotel in historic Jamestown, scene of the first English settlement in 1607. What makes Kingsmill an ideal place to visit in in any season is its scenic location overlooking the James River. The resort offers the plethora of recreational activities, such as indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy river, upscale spa, world class golf courses, biking and walking paths. While you don’t ever have to leave the resort, the American Revolution Museum, Jamestown Settlement/Living History Museum National Park and Historic Williamsburg are within a 10 mile radius. What I love about Kingsmill are the different kinds of accommodations, from family-friendly condominiums, 2-3 and 4 bedroom cottages with fireplaces, townhomes overlooking the championship golf course, to the uber-luxury Estate at Kingsmill, a sprawling home with a private heated pool and butler service.

Northern Neck, Virginia

The Northern Neck region is the perfect warm weather destination, (though it’s nice any time of year). This is when visitors can take advantage of so many activities, from boating, fishing, and biking along the coastline of the Rappahannock River. One of my favorite resorts is The Tides Inn, a family-friendly historic hotel known for its excellent cuisine and a plethora of activities, from sailing, oyster education, swimming, biking, kayaking and more. Another option is the elegant and relaxing Inn at Warner Hall where you can go canoeing, biking, swing in a hammock, and watch the sunset over the Severn River from your room. Enjoy a hearty three course breakfast before walking through the forest in search of migrating birds. There are plenty of charming small towns in the Northern Neck to shop and dine, such as Gloucester Village, Irvington and Kilmarnock, the latter is known for impressive art galleries and working studios. Within a short drive are historic sites like Historic Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Battlefields.
